Our Philosophy is the Philosophy of Wellness
How does wellness play out in your life and how is health is experienced? An understanding of the Wellness philosophy is an essential foundation for positive change in your life
Wellness Care is not something you do when you are sick… to get better. It is not something you do if you are well… to stay well or prevent future illness. Wellness is about optimisation of human potential. It has the sole purpose of expanding your potential and the possibilities for you and your life.
Wellness is a philosophy. It is a way of life that recognises that there is an innate intelligence within you, an inborn wisdom that governs all function, healing and repair… and that the purpose of Wellness Care is to remove interference to your body’s innate intelligence to allow you to access your true potential and perform at your very best.
That is why Wellness Care is for every man, woman and child. It is for you if you feel great or feel poorly. It is for your family and your friends. It is a way of life for every member of the community wanting to experience and achieve the best for themselves in every facet and area of life.
It is not about heath alone. It is about quality of life and expression of the innate potential within.
Wellness care is a choice you make to experience optimum health and lifestyle.
Wellness Care delivers health on a different scale: it offers a state of being on a different level.
Wellness Care and its role in health
Wellness Care enhances one’s health, as well as one’s quality of life.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines health as, “a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” This is considered by many to be the classical definition of health.
Another definition of health states that, “a healthy state of wellbeing exists when a person or organism is free from disease, which implies the general condition of body and mind is in a state of balance or wellbeing“.
Health can be defined negatively as the absence of infirmity, illness, complaint or disease; functionally, as the ability to cope with everyday activities, or positively, as fitness and wellbeing and the capacity to flourish. Thus defined, one cannot be healthy in the presence of arthritis, or for that matter, any condition.
In any organism, health is a form of homeostasis. This is a state of balance, with inputs and outputs of energy and matter in equilibrium (allowing for growth). Health also implies good prospects for continued survival.
These definitions have been introduced to you as part of your care. While these definitions remain true, they are but a small part of the truth. As you expand your understanding of wellness and as your paradigm shifts, so must the definitions and clarity in regard to what constitutes health and wellness.
The Clean Living Clinic has stated the role of a health care practitioner is to enable and to support the client in achieving a state of health and wellbeing. Health means more to us than the absence of disease; more than complete physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing… it is extraordinary balance and fulfilment in each area of life, transforming an individual to their ultimate potential while existing and experiencing a state of complete physical, biochemical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual wellness.
Redefining Health
“HEALTH, in a human being, is the perfection of bodily organisation, intellectual energy, and moral power. HEALTH is the fullest expression of all faculties and passions of man, acting together in perfect harmony. HEALTH is the entire freedom from pain of body and discordance of mind. HEALTH is beauty, energy, purity, holiness, happiness.” Dr. Nichols (1853)
This description defines abundant energy. This is true health. This is what Wellness Care offers to the lifetime wellness client. This is achievable by all, even those who have been unwell.
This is the purpose of the care we provide. This is the basis of our recommendations. This is the outcome of Wellness Care and the applications of the principles of the Wellness philosophy.
